Police in Croydon have released an image of a man wanted in connection with a serious assault against a man and a woman last month.

The incident happened on Saturday, September 7, in London Road near the junction with Fiveacre Close, Thornton Heath, at about 7pm.

The two victims, a 54-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man, are believed to have spoken to the suspect who was with two young children on scooters, when he challenged them as they were petting his dog outside an off licence in London Road, near the junction with Greenside Road.

About 10 minutes later, the suspect approached both victims alone, where he assaulted them, punching them both in the face.

Both victims subsequently attended hospital and received treatment for their injuries. The female victim was found to have suffered a fractured cheek-bone.

Detective Constable Lorna Sillett from Croydon CID said: "I would ask anyone who recognises this man to get in touch with us.

"This was a particularly violent assault against two victims and we would urge the public to come forward with any information to help us progress our enquiries."

Anyone who recognise the man should contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number 130707.
